Urinary Stone Center
The UCSF Urinary Stone Center provides expert evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of bladder, kidney and ureteral stones. We also specialize in treating cystinuria, an inherited disorder in which people are prone to urinary stones because their bodies can't process the amino acid cystine. We are committed to delivering the highest-quality care with integrity and compassion.
Our team includes nationally renowned urologic surgeons, nephrologists, radiologists, geneticists and nutritionists. Together, we provide a wide range of services, including screening tests, diagnostic imaging (such as ultrasound), second opinions, advanced treatment techniques and long-term follow-up care. Our doctors have expertise in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including cystoscopy, ureteroscopy, shock wave lithotripsy and holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP).
UCSF also has a large research program dedicated to improving urinary stone care, so our patients may have the option to join a clinical trial investigating a promising new treatment.
