Dr. M. Reza Vagefi specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, tear drainage system, orbit (eye socket) and face. His areas of expertise and interest include aesthetic facial rejuvenation, disorders of the eyelid and tear drainage system, and orbital disease.
After earning a bachelor's degree in French from Johns Hopkins University, Vagefi earned his medical degree at the Yale School of Medicine. He completed an ophthalmology residency at UCSF. During his residency, he was awarded the Starr E. Shulman MPA Fellowship by the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He then spent two additional years training in oculofacial plastic, reconstructive and orbital surgery at the Center for Facial Appearances in Salt Lake City.
Vagefi is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He instructs fellows, residents and medical students at UCSF, the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.
