Dr. Garrett R. Roll is a surgeon specializing in kidney, liver and pancreas transplantation. He also performs general surgery in patients with end-stage liver and kidney disease, including patients with liver cancer.

Roll received his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He then completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in abdominal transplant surgery at UCSF.

After completing his fellowship, Roll was a senior international fellow in liver transplant and retrieval at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, home to the busiest liver surgery unit in Europe. During his time in England, he gained experience with normothermic machine perfusion for the liver (NMP-L), a method of preserving the liver as it is transported for transplantation.

Roll's research interests include cell therapy and organ regeneration, NMP-L, and infection with human papilloma virus (HPV) in transplant recipients. He also studies outcomes for transplant patients. He is the primary investigator in a clinical trial of the HPV vaccine for reducing cervical cancer risk in transplant recipients on immunosuppressive drugs.

Roll is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
