Dr. Courtney Sherman is a general and transplant hepatologist who cares for patients with liver disease. Her patients range from those who have abnormal results on liver tests to those with liver cancer or liver failure.

Seeking to provide the best possible care for people with liver disease, Sherman collaborates with a team that includes surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, oncologists and nurses. She has special interests in treating patients with liver cancer, cirrhosis and liver disease caused by alcohol use.

She is committed to ensuring that patients are able to see liver specialists in a timely manner. She works closely with the UCSF Liver Transplant Outreach and Community Liaison Program to improve access to liver care for patients who live far distances from San Francisco.

Sherman earned her medical degree at New York Medical College. She then completed a residency in internal medicine at UCSF, where she served as chief resident. She also completed fellowships in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at UCSF.

Sherman belongs to the American College of Gastroenterology, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

    Prescribed medication side effects and risks were not thoroughly discussed. Options for integrative care or alternative modalities did not seem supported.

    Dr Sherman is a very excellent Doctor who cares and listens to our concerns on questions we may have and overall wit any other concerns..I would recommend her to any of my family & friends.
