Dr. Charalambos (Babis) Andreadis specializes in bone marrow transplantation for adults and in treating Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, leukemia and multiple myeloma. He cares for patients at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research, published widely in scientific journals, examines genetic and other factors that affect how patients respond to therapy, including degrees of drug toxicity. He also studies patient outcomes in these disorders.

Andreadis earned his medical degree at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 1998. He completed a residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he joined the faculty in 2004. He also earned a master's degree in clinical epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on pharmacogenetics, the study of how genes impact an individual's response to medications.

    Dr. Andreadis is professional courteous and communicates extremely well. He is always prepared for my visits reviews blood work and labs explaining what tbe results mean in my particular case and alleviates any concerns with those explanations. He additionally follows up on the status of referrals given as support for my condition and acknowledges tbe specific details of outside influences such as 2 recent deaths in my immediate family which admittedly reassures me He is listening supportive as well as asking if he can do anything else that nay ve helpful for me to get through the losses without compromising my own health.I highly recommend end Dr. Andreadis and am very confident with him as my cancer care provider cannot speak highly enough of his integrity knowledge and ability to see his patients not only their condition.

    Dr Andreadis is the best Dr one can wish to have. Beyond his expertise in his field he is an excellent listener explains things in layman's terms allows patients to be involved in making decisions provides hope encouragement and makes patients to be optimistic. He is the best!

    He kind of explained but used jargon a bit too much. I stopped and asked for clarification- sometime he succeeded sometimes he didn't. Had I not done some research bfhand I would have understood less

    I experienced an excellent visit with Dr. Andreadis ~ he provided a welcoming professional informative and educational overview with a warm sense of humor as well. The visit was a wonderful acknowledgement and celebration of my remission status following successful treatment for stage 4 DBCNHL. I very much appreciate the invaluable insight efforts consideration selection and application of specific treatments that sustained my life ~ such an enormous responsibility to undertake beneath the pressure of what is at stake. It is with much gratitude and appreciation that I thank him for saving my life.

    This provider is a specialist to whom I was referred to by my regular oncologist. He was familiar with my medical records and confirmed that my status with CLL remains one of "watchful waiting".. Good to get that confirmation from a specialist.

    The doctor and doctor's assistant gave me full attention and went above and beyond to explain about my health Issue how to look for signs of the disease and what would be treatment options. They helped me to feel empowered and mentally prepared to deal with any possible outcome.

    The brain follicular lymphoma I was told was the first UCSF had ever seen. Now Dr. Andreadis thinks my condition might be something different? I guess that's why it's called "practicing" medicine. Dr. Andreadis is a superb physician which I thoroughly trust and admire. Perhaps he was just reflecting his thoughts verbally?

    Overall Dr. Andreadis provides valuable information and addresses my questions in a relaxed and patient manner. I usually prepare questions in advance. After the visit a question or needed information comes to mind that I would have appreciated having been asked such as whether to continue taking current prescription how long or any withdrawal side effects that may result. Clarifying some lab results such as when one might expect an improvement in red &/or white blood cell counts or any action I might take toward their improvement would also be appreciated. I deeply value receiving an educational & comprehensive explanation whenever possible as this can greatly improve the healing process in a dimensional way.

    I know that greed is the reason doctors have pressure applied to them to go faster and take less time with patients. I'm always glad when doctors refuse to give you the impression that time is money and really treat the patient like a human being. Dr. Andreadis is that type of doctor and UCSF needs to thank their lucky stars. Not all your doctors are like Andreadis!!
