Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery Clinic

The UCSF Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery Clinic provides expert care for patients with conditions involving the brain and its blood vessels. We treat strokes and disorders that increase stroke risk, including brain aneurysms, subarachnoid hemorrhage, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), cavernous malformations, dural arteriovenous fistulas and intracerebral hemorrhage.

As one of the country's leading surgical programs for cerebrovascular disorders, staffed with highly experienced specialists, we offer a wide range of treatment options that we tailor to individual patients. While some cerebrovascular disorders can be managed conservatively by monitoring their progression over time with regular MRIs, others require immediate surgical intervention.

Our neurosurgeons are skilled in both minimally invasive and traditional techniques. The number of aneurysm and AVM surgeries the team performs in a year is among the highest in the nation. That experience makes for safer surgeries and better outcomes. Our nurse practitioners are also specialists in cerebrovascular disorders, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care.

This clinic is part of the UCSF Comprehensive Stroke Center, which has been certified as a comprehensive stroke center – the highest certification – by the Joint Commission, American Heart Association and American Stroke Association and recognized as a center of excellence for care of cerebral cavernous malformations by the Angioma Alliance.
