Cardiovascular Care and Prevention Center at Mission Bay
At the UCSF Cardiovascular Care and Prevention Center, our experts in cardiology and vascular disease have been pioneers in the treatment of heart conditions and research into new and better procedures. We use today's most sophisticated tools to diagnose heart and vascular disease in people who may be at high risk, such as those with a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, as well as those nearing middle age and worried about a lifestyle that may have been hard on the heart.
Screening includes laboratory tests to measure fats and cholesterol in the blood, along with nonsurgical imaging technologies that give doctors a window onto the heart. We also provide a full range of heart disease prevention and treatment options, from drug therapy to minimally invasive procedures and surgery.
Subspecialty areas include electrophysiology to study heart rhythms; heart failure and heart transplants; pulmonary hypertension and lung transplants; echocardiography, which uses ultrasound waves to study heart function; stress testing using a variety of technologies; and advanced cardiac imaging, such as by MRI or CT scan.
