Cardiology Clinic at Mount Zion
The UCSF Cardiology Clinic uses the most sophisticated tools to diagnose heart and vascular disease in people who may be at high risk, such as those with a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, as well as those nearing middle age and worried about a lifestyle that may have taken a toll on the heart.
Screening includes laboratory tests to measure fats and cholesterol in the blood, along with nonsurgical imaging technologies that give doctors a window onto the heart. We also provide a full range of heart disease prevention and treatment options, from drug therapy to minimally invasive procedures and surgery.
Cardiologists are involved in a wide range of research, both clinical (with patients) and in the laboratory. Investigations leading to new therapies for heart disease, such as catheter ablation for heart rhythm disturbances, have been our strength over the years. More recently, we've begun to study using stem cells to treat heart disease.
